[Dec. 05, 2012] Meeting with World Bank and BIDV on SMEs Supporting Project via VINASME

iLumtics' consultants team (Hong Pham and Thanh Nguyen) joins a meeting at Vietnam Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (VINASME) to review progress of a project to support to Vietnamese SMEs. This technical assistance project, financed by the WB, aims to strengthen VINASME's capacity in providing business training and advisory services to its SME members.

[Nov. 21-22, 2012] Continuing Education - Intake 46 Students of Vietnam Commercial University start academic year

Under iLumtics' management, Tranconsin Training Center (TTC) continues its traditional partnership with the Vietnam Commercial University (VCU) to offer undergradute programs (Accounting and Business Administration) to corporate employees who have completed high school, 2-to-3-years collegial programs or even univesity graduate but wanted to pursue additional degree. This year's 46^th intake of the VCU is the 5^th joint intake between the two parties. The intake 46 is organized in one class with 121 students to pursue Bachelor of Business Administration degree. The class is under direct management of iLumtics' TTC and will complete the whole program in 2016. The 42^nd intake (the first TTC-VCU joint intake) is going to complete the program in 2013. There are now about 1.200 students in total for all 5 TTC-VCU joint intakes being entirely managed by the TTC.

Beside VCU, iLumtics is also working with other four universities/colleges to offer continuing undergraduate programs (currently about 500 students are under TTC's direct management):

• University of Transport Technology: Bachelor of Road and Bridge Construction;
• Hanoi University of Architecture: Bachelor of Industrial and Civil Construction;
• University of Transport and Communication: Bachelor of Road and Bridge Construction;
• Viettronics Technology College: 3-years collegial degree on Accounting and Business Administration

[Oct. 30, 2012] iLumtics Vietnam works with Dai Nam University's International School to recruit PhD/DBA students

The two parties agree to work together from November 2012 in recruiting Vietnamese students to pursue Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) and PhD degree in Business Administration, Education Management and Technology Management. These programs are offered by the Filippino Bulacan State Univiersity (BSU) and Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST). Candidates for these programs are required to take courses in the Philippines but able to conduct researches and prepare dissertation in Vietnam.

[Oct. 08-17, 2012] Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs' IOB assignment on "Private Sector Development (PSD) Policy Review"

iLumtics' Partner Thanh Nguyen joined Triodos Facet team to perform a M&E assignment on PSD Policy Revew in Vietnam, sponsored by the Policy and Operations Evaluation Department (IOB) of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The team met with different organizations in both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city such as the Dutch Embassy in Hanoi, Viettrade, Hanoi Trade Promotion Centre, UNIDO, Delegation of the European Union to Vietnam, DFID, DHV, IFC, Oxfam Novib, SNV, VECO, VASEP, Fresh Studio Company, Friesland Campina, ITPC, Better Works Vietnam, BIWASE, Vilaf, Techcombank, etc. The overall objectives of the country study is to analyze how the Dutch PSD policy was applied in Vietnam in 2005-2011, what were the underlying rationales that have led to the PSD program, how did actors engage with each other, in what way was demand-drivenness assured, and what can be said about the effects that the PSD program has had.

[Sep. 23-30, 2012] iLumtics Vietnam's Business Trip to Myanmar

iLumtics Vietnam led by Thanh Nguyen joins a business trip to Myanmar (Burma) for one week to explore business opportunities in this emerging ASEAN country. Vietnamese Ambassador to the Union of Myanmar, Mr Chu Cong Phung, and Mr Vu Cuong, Counselor of Commerce welcomed the delegation and made a short introduction on the country and business environment. iLumtics Vietnam met with some local companies such as UMG group, Shine Group of Companies, Cherry Xeno Trading, Win Theingi... for further exploration of cooperation. The delegates also paid a visit to new Capital City of NayPyiTaw, and an old tourist city of Bagan.

[Sep. 17-21, 2012] (TOT Plus Series) Training of Compass Moderator

The "TOT Plus" program on training moderators for 4 provinces of Vietnam is organised by ILO office in Vietnam under Joint Program on Green Trade and Production (implemented by 5 UN agencies) was taken place in Vinh City of Nghe An Province. The training is conducted by Christian Schoen (Mesopartner) and Thanh Nguyen (iLumtics Vietnam) The first two days focused on skills development on how to moderate a Compass workshop for Local Competitiveness using Balanced Scorecard-based Compass, a participatory M&E approach developed by Mesopartner and GIZ (Germany).

This assignment is similar to iLumtics Vietnam's TOT Plus Program, which is designed to train the trainers in specific technical areas. So it comprises of two parts:

• Trainer's Skills Development: this part is primarily focuses on trainer's competencies to adopt Learner-centred Methodology for Adult Learners;
• Technical Knowledge: this part is specific knowledge area. In this case, M&E using Balanced Scorecard is a technical area that is a "Plus" to the trainer development (TOT). Other TOT Plus programs being recently conducted by iLumtics Vietnam are TOT on Value Chain, TOT on Sales Management for Business Development Managers...

[Sep. 05, 2012] Release of Mid-Term Review Report for ILO's Program on Capacity Strengthening of Producers Group in Nghe An Province  

iLumtics Vietnam in Central Vietnam was commissioned by the International Labour Organization (ILO) to conduct assignment within the framework of its two funded projects in Quang Nam and Nghe An provinces. The main objective of the assignment is to build capacity on the technical and managerial skills of the players involved in the Rattan and Vegetable value chains and supports for the newly formed business groups in bamboo/rattan VC and brocade VC in the 3 districts in formulating the business plans, promotion and marketing of products, enhancing existing business linkages and promoting their organizational capacity. This report is a mid-term evaluation conducted by iLumtics team in Quang Binh Office.

[Aug. 15-16, 2012] "Future Executives Training"- iLumtics' Global Managers Training Package

In association with Tokyo-based strategic partner CICOM BRAINS, iLumtics Vietnam implements 2-days "Future Excecutives Training" program in Vietnam for a big Japanese Company. This is the second consecutive year that the program is jointly run by the two parties, where CICOM BRAINS takes care of training in Japan and iLumtics Vietnam is in charge of the Vietnam part. This program is part of iLumitcs' Global Managers Training Package, which aims to provide (potential) managers in MNCs who want to be successful in their career in Vietnam.

[Jun - Aug, 2012] "Train of Trainers" (TOT) Series

In collaboration with PTTC1, Tung Nguyen, Loi Trinh & Thanh Nguyen conducted a series of TOT courses for VNPT and its member companies.
